Community pool at Mangatangi Primary School

Community pool at Mangatangi Primary School

The rural community of Mangatangi, nestled in the Firth of Thames, now has access to a swimming pool. The Mangatangi Primary School’s Home and School Committee fundraised for five years to raise one-third of the funding required to apply for a Lottery Community Facilities grant.

The swimming pool supports water safety for school children, and also brings together different generations from the local community in summer.

What does Lottery Community Facilities provide grants for?

Lottery Community Facilities provides grants:

  • to improve or build new community facilities, or
  • for feasibility studies to work out if plans to improve or build community facilities can be achieved and will benefit the community.

The aim is to get more people involved in community and social activities, and to strengthen communities and bring people together by helping to develop their community facilities.

Lottery Community Facilities is for projects where the total project cost is over $50,000.

Requests for funding of projects where the total cost is $50,000 or less should be made to Lottery Community.
