Information emailed to Lottery COVID-19 Community Wellbeing Fund applicants, 21 Decemeber 2020
Pause placed on all decision making in the Lottery COVID-19 Community Wellbeing Fund as of close of play Wednesday 23 December.
We are writing to you to update you on your funding request to the Lottery COVID-19 Community Wellbeing Fund.
We recently advised you that a temporary pause was placed on new funding requests to the Fund. This was done to allow time to consider the unprecedented demand for funding which has been received, and to determine how to ensure funding was accessible and invested into hapū, iwi, whanau and communities most impacted by COVID-19.
Since then the Department of Internal Affairs has completed an initial stocktake of requests to the Fund and we can confirm that the demand far exceeds the remaining allocation available. To determine the next best steps for the fund it is necessary to understand who has been applying, what funding has been requested for, and how grants have been distributed at a national and local level.
To ensure that the fund supports those community, hapū and iwi most impacted by COVID-19 we have placed a pause on all decision making for the Fund from Wednesday 23 December. This will allow all requests currently in the system to be assessed before any further funding decisions are made.
Organisations with funding requests in draft may still complete and submit these. Decisions on these funding requests and all other submitted requests where decisions have not yet been made will be delayed until further notice. The Department will review and make decisions on these in early 2020.
Information on the status of funding requests is displayed in the online grant management system. As soon as a decision has been made, your organisation will be notified by email.
