Helping New Zealand build strong communities

Lottery Individuals with Disabilities Te Komiti mo ngā Tāngata Hauā

Lottery Individuals with Disabilities provides funding to people with disabilities for the purchase of equipment that will enable them to better connect with, take part in and contribute to their community.

Definition of a disability: A disability refers to a long-term (i.e. six months or longer), limiting condition that affects a person’s ability to participate in the community.

Funding for outcomes

All Lottery grants are expected to bring some benefit for the community. The outcomes sought by this Committee are that:

  • People with disabilities will be more connected with, take part in, and  contribute more to their community which will help build stronger  communities across New Zealand;
  • Children, young people and their families with disabilities will have increased access to their communities.

The Committee will look for information which shows how a request will support these outcomes and this will be important to the Committee in making decisions about who to fund.

The funding outcomes may be reviewed and changed at the start of each year and will be listed on the Community Matters website.
