Can I apply for Norman Kirk Memorial Trust funding?

You cannot apply directly to the Norman Kirk Memorial Trust; you need to apply through one of its partners. It has partnership arrangements with some schools, universities and training centres in New Zealand and the South Pacific. Grants are allocated to individuals through these training and education institutions.
1. As mentioned above, you will need to contact a partnership school, university, or training centre before you apply to this fund. Do you have a partnership organisation that you can apply for funding through?
Yes - go to question 3
No - There are institutions listed below that may be able to help you. Applications for the Norman Kirk Memorial fund are received at these organisations:

- Māori Education Trust (for students)
- Pacific Islands Polynesian Education Foundation (for students)
- Victoria University of Wellington Foundation (for students)
- Waimate High School(for students)
- Pacific Paramedical Training Centre
- Volunteer Service Abroad
- Pacific Islands
- Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary, Fiji (for students)
- St Mary's College, Samoa (for students)
- St Mary's School, Samoa (for students)
- University of the South Pacific, Vanuatu (for students)
- University of the South Pacific, Solomon Islands (for students)
2. Each organisation will have its own criteria which they will be happy to discuss with you; however, please be aware that the Norman Kirk Memorial Trust provides funding for disadvantaged or disabled people who are committed to taking advantage of "second chance" education or training and people seeking a qualification or training which will enable them to make a greater contribution in the community. Will your proposal fit within either of these things?
Yes - go to question 3
No - The Norman Kirk Memorial Trust is set up specifically to fund educational opportunities for these people. There are other grant opportunities, or the Funding Information Service may be able to assist in finding a fund that is better suited to you or your organisation’s purpose.
3. Are you ready to get your application to one of these organisations, and does the application meet their individual criteria?
Yes - please contact the organisations (using the contacts provided) about working with them to apply for Norman Kirk Memorial scholarship funding.
No - These are the only organisations that can receive Norman Kirk Memorial Trust applications. Please contact them and they may be able to provide guidance about meeting their criteria. Alternatively, there are other grant opportunities, or the Funding Information Service may be able to assist in finding a fund that is better suited to you or your organisation’s purpose.
