Can I apply for New Zealand Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (NZWCMT) funding?

1. NZWCMT funding is intended for travel to do intensive research, usually between three weeks and three months in duration. Is this what you are seeking funding for?
Yes - go to question 2
No - The NZWCMT is set up specifically to provide grants for this sort of travel. There are other grant opportunities, or the Funding Information Service may be able to assist in finding a fund that is better suited to your purpose.
2. To apply for NZWCMT funding you must be able to show that: you are a New Zealand citizen or normally resident in New Zealand; the project will benefit New Zealand as well as enhance your own life, work or business; the grant is only for travel outside New Zealand, between 1 January and 31 December in the year immediately after you make application. The Trust will also consider short courses if they meet these requirements. Will your proposal show these things?

No - Travel funding from NZWCMT needs to fit these criteria. There are other grant opportunities, or the Funding Information Service may be able to assist in finding a fund that is better suited to your purpose.
3. If an application is successful, the Trust will make a contribution to the cost of your travel, but you will need to contribute at least 20% yourself. It may be that you will need more depending on the cost of your travel. Are you able to contribute 20% yourself, and any additional costs if required?
Yes - go to question 4
No - you will need to consider raising additional funding from elsewhere. The Funding Information Service may be able to assist in finding additional funding.
4. If your application is funded, you will need to submit a report on your project within six months of getting back. Your report will also be posted on this website. Would you be able to do this?
